JUSTIFICATION:

Biological weapons contain living organisms that are transmitted by different routes .
With the technological advance, techniques used to create biological weapons are growing.
The concept of bioterrorism and biological weapons is new, but it doesn´t mean that their use be recent, it has been used for centuries.
Biological weapons are microorganisms adapted by military, causing disease in humans, animals or plants and they are contagious.

OBJECTIVES:

To show the people that the use of microorganisms that is not good and not common, but is a reality of the world.
To inform the society which bacteria and microorganisms are used as a biological weapon.
To identify the countries which possess and/or make bacteriological weapons.

THEORY:

According to Kenneth Alibek y S. Handelman (1999), “a biological weapon is any bacteria, virus or another organism that causes a disease; these are used as weapons in war .“
They are used to damage people, killing, incapacitate and prevent a serious enemy. There are several classes of biological weapons like the bacteria, virus, toxins and ricketsias.
Bacteria that have been used as biological weapons are militarily microorganisms adapted to cause disease in humans, animals or plants, some bacteria used as biological weapons are:

Bacillus anthracis (anthrax)

Clostridium botulinum (botulism)

Yersinia pestis (black death)

Francisella tularensis (tularemia)

Variola Virus (smallpox)

Ebola Virus (ebola)

Flavivirus (yellow fever)

Dengue virus (dengue)

The bacteria used as biological weapons in the world are forms of pathogenic reservoir and the most important characteristics that they possess. The United States intelligence has a long list of nations suspected of possessing or making bacteriological weapons, for example:
United States
Iran
Italy
Russia
Bulgaria
Cuba
India
Iraq
Pakistan
South Africa
China
Egypt
Israel
Libya
Romania
Taiwan
North Korea
Mexico
Chile

KEY WORDS:

Biological weapon
Bacteria
Microorganisms
Terrorism
Disease

EXPECTATIONS:

We want that people know about the use of bacteria and microorganisms and which of these are used as biological weapons.
Besides, inform people about which diseases produce these bacteria and microorganisms.
Finally, show people why the bacteria and microorganisms are used like a biological weapon and how human beings react to it.
